Antique Chinoiserie Birds of Paradise Lidded Dish and Underplate by Ashworth Bros. Hanley, Staffordshire England, Mason's Ironstone, Chinoiserie Chic

These antique chinoiserie lidded dish and underplate are truly fantastic! The beautifully vibrant Birds of Paradise are perched in flowering trees lush with greenery and peonies in shades of chinese red, rose, gold, tiffany and cobalt blues. The center is bordered in a design similar to the English crown with brightly hued botanicals surrounding it. It was expertly hand crafted in Staffordshire, England.

This piece is marked Ashworth Bros. with a crown Hanley England and an 807 and S imprinted You'll see different hallmarks on pieces of the same pattern some are marked Mason's Ironstone, some Ashworth. Ashworth & Bros. acquired Mason's, along with their molds and patterns, in 1861. It’s believed the hallmark on these pieces is from 1891.

The lidded dish measures 8” tall (3.5” w/o the lid)x 10.75” wide x 9.5” deep. The underplate is 12.25” in diameter. These pieces are in lovely condition with wear consistent with age and use including crazing, discoloration, and light chips. Please see all the pics as they are considered part of the description.
