Whippet Needlepoint Wall Hanging, Vintage Estate Decor

This vintage needlepoint of a Whippet is based on the Coly Dogs seen in Renaissance French Tapestries. It’s from a pattern series called Birds and Beasts.  You can see it was lovingly stitched and is so well done. 

I contemplated re-framing it in hold, but I really love this choice when professionally framed of the marbled green tole. Its vibrancy matches the colors well and truly makes this piece unique. Sorry for the glglare, glass is my kryptonite, lol.

I acquired it from a beautiful Austin estate. They were a military family that spent years in Hawaii. Everything in this estate was fantastically curated and told the story of lives well lived.  

Pieces like this are why sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor is my favorite thing to do...shopping estate sales, auctions, and charity thrift stores to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.

It measures 10.25 x 10.25” framed and is such a lovely piece.
