These vintage Fitz and Floyd bookends are pretty fantastic! Did you see the article in the latest issue of Veranda Magazine about the resurgence of Egyptian pieces in decorating? In contrast to this genre's bright, colorful pieces, these are done in a glazed white ceramic but are just as impactful.
I acquired this piece at the estate of a stained glass artist outside of Austin. You know that scene in The Wizard of OZ where Dorothy opens the door and steps out, and everything is in technicolor? That's what I felt like at this fabulous estate. I think these were the only white pieces she had, but I noticed them right away.
They're marked Fitz and Floyd, Inc MCMLXXVII FF Japan
Each measures approximately 7" tall x 6.5" wide x 4.5" deep
