LARGE Staffordshire Spill Vase Lamp

LARGE Antique Staffordshire Spill Vase Lamp depicting a hunt scene with standing nobleman, his dog and the prize of the day…a  pheasant at his feet. This piece is truly fantastic!

The colors and detail are phenomenal. One thing I love about the English and their homes is that they aren’t afraid of color. You remember the Queen was always dressed in cheerful colors.

If you’re an Anglophile like me then antique Staffordshire pieces make you weak in the knees. I recently attended an estate sale that literally made me dizzy with excitement.

The lady of the house surrounded herself with fantastic pieces of Chinese porcelain, French antiques , Majolica and Staffordshire. She was known in the elite circles of Austin for her well curated home of unique antiques. She loved to entertain and her charity work with the Austin Junior League. Her husband was on the Board of Regents at the local university and highly involved in gubernatorial politics so they enteratained quite a bit  and it’s said that invitations to her soirées were coveted to see the decor. 

As you can see in the pictures, this piece is in unbelievable condition for its age... It does have some light wear wear consistent with age and use and has the firing marks and mould holes. This piece has lived a life and each little mark tells its story.  The base is metal. Please see all the pics as they are considered part of the description. 

It measures 26” tall from top of finial x 8” wide.
