Spanish Sails by Wolfgang Arthur Schlimme, Original Oil Painting, Vintage

Vintage oil painting (c.1973) by artist Wolfgang Arthur Schlimme entitled Spanish Seas. The knife work and moody colors of this piece are excellent. Artist signed and dated.  Framed in solid wood with linen matting and a gold nameplate engraved with the title Spanish Sails by W. Schlimme. 

Schlimme, born in Germany in 1943,  attended the University of Goettingen and later joined the merchant marines. During this time, he honed his painting skills. This piece, I dare say, is one of his best. 

I acquired this piece from an estate just outside of Austin.

Many are steeped in history and tradition, and some are just pretty, but all are thoughtfully curated by me so that I can bring you the very best of what I find💙

It measures 20.5” long x 15.5” tall x 1.25” deep from the outside corners of the frame and is in lovely estate condition.
