Standing an impressive 41 inches tall to the top of the harp screw, the entire lamp is fashioned as an exuberant sheaf of wheat, with long sculptural metal leaves and wheat heads sweeping upward and outward before being gathered at the center with a wonderfully detailed gilt rope tie.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd then there are the five candle arms.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEmerging from among the wheat at the lower portion of the lamp, four graceful arms terminate in flower-like candle cups, giving the piece the wonderful presence of a candelabrum and table lamp combined. The whole composition rests on a substantial round base with a contrasting wood plinth.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMarked MADE IN ITALY on the metalwork.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe aged gilt finish has developed beautiful variation and patina over time. There also appear to be areas where the gold-toned finish has been refreshed or touched up during its life. Rather than detracting from the piece, the layers give it the wonderfully collected character one hopes to find in vintage Italian decorative metalwork.
