Some pieces are simply made for a home that loves bows. This original 1956 French Line menu features Jean A. Mercier’s sweet illustration for the French lullaby “Fais Dodo Colin,” with a baby in a golden cradle, a figure in pink, and a sweeping blue canopy finished with an oversized bow. Flowers, birds, and little toys complete the whimsical scene.

The reverse carries the lullaby’s printed music and French lyrics, with a musical arrangement credited to Charles Dumont, above a decorative scene featuring a sailing ship and an elaborate table display. The printed credit identifies the artwork and arrangement as selections from Nos vieilles chansons (“Our Old Songs”), used to bring traditional French songs to French Line dining menus.

A lovely choice for a nursery, bedroom, or grandmillennial gallery wall, this vintage menu combines soft color, romantic detail, and a little ocean-travel history. Frame it individually or display it alongside the other illustrated menus for a collected grouping.
