I LOVE everything about these French game trophy tapestries… EVERYTHING!

Infuse your interiors with the rustic romance of the French countryside with this striking pair of antique woven tapestry panels. Likely French and dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, these richly textured panels depict classic chasse à courre (hunting) imagery—one featuring a dramatic display of hanging fowl, the other a lifelike hare, both suspended as trophies in the grand tradition of sporting art.

Rendered in deep chestnut tones with exquisite woven detail, the tapestries are mounted on wood stretcher-style frames and accented with handsome nailhead trim, echoing the opulent aesthetic of Louis XIII and Louis XIV hunting lodges. Whether displayed as art, mounted as door or cabinet panels, or used as a dramatic backdrop in a study or library, these pieces bring timeless French provincial grandeur to any space.

They are BEYOND fantastic!

Provenance:

Acquired from the Byram Family's Estate Auction. John Byram, a prominent Austin-based real estate developer, and his late wife, Sally Byram, curated this French Provincial style estate with the help of notable architects and interior designers. The home has remained untouched since Sally's untimely passing in 2006, serving as a testament to her taste for sophistication and craftsmanship. Sally was beloved and well known for her fabulous entertaining, including a dinner party she hosted where Bob Mackie was the guest of honor. Bob.Mackie.

Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor…shopping estate sales, auctions, charity thrift stores, and antique malls to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.
