French Morbier Comtoise Clock, Estate Decor

I have always loved these French Morbier clocks and have been fortunate enough to find two of them for my personal collection. This one has been hanging in our dining room for many years but we have been moving things around so I think it’s time to share it with y’all. We use it strictly as a decor piece… meaning it’s non-working. 

Also known as a Comtoise clock, the names Morbier and Comtoise refer to the French villages and regions where they were once made.  

It’s beautifully stamped thin metal commonly brass with an ornately floral design on the clock itself and the pendulum. The hand painted enamel face with the maker’s name also includes the crank for winding. It also has both the weights. 

Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor…shopping estate sales, auctions, charity thrift stores, and antique malls to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.

It measures 56” long x 14” wide X 7” deep. It has light wear consistent with age and use.
