A Little Dutch Mischief — Vintage Delft Blue & White Tobacco Jar | 6.75” H × 4.5” W | Two Available

Blue and white with a little bad behavior! Discovered in Round Top, these charming Dutch Delft tobacco jars feature cobalt floral decoration and a wonderfully cheeky scene of a fellow confined to a pillory—apparently even a little public embarrassment couldn’t interrupt his pipe break.

The reverse reads “van Rossem’s Toeback Anno 1750,” adding beautiful old-world lettering to their decorative appeal. Their rounded forms, creamy grounds, and aged metal lids make them wonderful additions to a bookshelf, mantel, or collected blue-and-white display.

Both are marked Delft on the underside. One reads “Blue Delfts / Handpainted / Made in Holland”; the other reads “Delft Blue / Holland.” Believed to date from the mid-to-late 20th century.

Two available, sold individually. Each measures approximately 6.75” tall × 4.5” wide.

Both jars show glaze crazing, and both metal lids have discoloration and surface wear. Decoration and condition vary slightly between the two; please review all photographs.

$97 each — includes insured shipping in the continental U.S.

Also available for pickup at our showroom of antique & vintage home and garden decor just outside of Austin, Texas.
