Alvin Sterling Silver Basket, C. 1930, Rare

Classic c. 1930 Sterling Silver basket made by Alvin.  The Art Deco Egyptian design by Alvin was sold under the pattern name "GIFT LINE" and was mentioned as such in MODERNISM IN AMERICAN SILVER by Jewel Stern book (page 87). It’s marked ALVIN STERLING 1502. 

This piece is considered somewhat rare as less than 250 were made. 

I acquired it from the posh Austin estate of a former JP Morgan executive and his lovely wife. They spent many years living in England before returning to Texas. This place was MAGNIFICENT!

The sweet lady of the house was thrilled to know their pieces would be offered to others who would love them as much as they did🩷
