Antique Dresden Sitzendorf Figural Compote | 14” Rococo Cherub Centerpiece with Applied Flowers | c. 1900

This is truly an exquisite antique Dresden figural compote, attributed to the Sitzendorf Porcelain Manufactory of Thuringia, Germany, circa 1890–1915.

Standing an impressive 14 inches tall, this Rococo revival centerpiece features a reticulated basket-form bowl adorned with hand-painted floral cartouches, lavish gilding, and extraordinary applied porcelain blossoms. Two finely modeled cherubs support the stem, climbing amidst cascading florals in soft pastels of blush, cornflower blue, lavender, and pale celadon.

The underside bears the interlaced “SP” Dresden mark in underglaze blue, consistent with Sitzendorf production of the late 19th to early 20th century.

The bowl is adjustable so it can be turned to the view you prefer. 

Condition:

Remarkably well preserved with very minimal petal loss and only minor age-appropriate wear. Gilding remains vibrant. A rare survival example in this condition.
