Antique 19th century Sitzendorf Figural Floral and Cherub Candlesticks, Hand Paitned Porcelain, Fantastic Estate Decor
Antique 19th century Sitzendorf Figural Floral and Cherub Candlesticks, Hand Paitned Porcelain, Fantastic Estate Decor
A charming pair of antique Sitzendorf German porcelain candlestick holders with Rococo flair. Beautifully artistic and intricate floral details adorns the pedestal as it winds up amongst the lovely maiden and cherub…the hand painted pinks, blues, yellows and greens are striking against the creamy white porcelain with gilded gold accents. Both pieces are marked with the crossed lines of Sitzendorfer dating them to 1887 - 1900.
I acquired them from the grand familial Castle Hills estate of a former San Antonio mayor and judge… the same as the antique French tapestry. His daughter was a prominent member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) who spent countless hours serving on various charity boards around San Antonio.
This estate had so many lovely things and I was thrilled to have sourced some of the most fantastic heirloom pieces.
Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor is my favorite thing to do...shopping estate sales, auctions, charity thrift stores, and antique malls to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.
Each measures 14” tall x 6.75” in diameter at the base and are in lovely condition especially for its age.
