A fantastic pair of vintage Chinoiserie style table lamps. Beautifully hand painted Bird of Paradise in a flowering tree with panther or possibly foo dog heads with rings in their mouths on each side. They’re hand painted in a creamy aged light tan-ish base color with muted shades shades of orange, blue green, and yellow, have a brass lid to top, and are on a carved wood base. They're is some crazing that looks intentional due to the pattern. Believed to be late 20th century. Harps and finial included.
I acquired them from the estate of the family who owns a world renowned Arabian Horse Farm here in Texas- the same as the Ali Al Mimar painting. I can remember back in the day when Kareem Abdul Jabbar kept a horse there. It was always big news when he flew in.
Each measures 30” tall x 8.5” wide at the base.
Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor…shopping estate sales, auctions, charity thrift stores, and antique malls to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.
