A rare and compelling piece of British royal history, this antique commemorative mug honors the brief reign of King Edward VIII, bearing the coronation date of May 12, 1937—a ceremony that, famously, never took place.

Edward VIII’s reign lasted just 326 days in 1936, making it one of the shortest in British history. His abdication to marry Wallis Simpson halted the production of many coronation wares, which makes surviving pieces like this notably harder to find and increasingly scarce compared to traditional royal commemoratives.

Crafted in a classic creamware body with a delicate crackle glaze, the mug features Edward’s profile framed by patriotic motifs, with “Long May He Reign” on the reverse—a poignant detail given the events that followed.
