Etched Neoclassical Ewer Decanter #1 by Thomas Webb, England, Circa 19th Century
Etched Neoclassical Ewer Decanter #1 by Thomas Webb, England, Circa 19th Century
To say this antique etched decanter is exquisite is an understatement! The artisanship and craftsmanship are superior to pieces of the same time period… attributed to Thomas Webb of Stourbridge, England the neoclassical design is so richly detailed with a Greek key border and a rope twist applied handle and the same around the middle with raised beads. C. 19th century.
There are two coordinating ewer decanters being listed separately.
I acquired them from the posh Austin estate of a former JP Morgan executive and his lovely wife. They spent many years living in England before returning to Texas. This place was MAGNIFICENT!
They were gifted to them by family friends, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lutcher Stark whose His grandfather, founded the Lutcher and Moore Lumber Company empire in East Texas….the first to sell graded lumber. He was appointed to the University of Texas Board of Regents by then Governor, Hobby and he and his wife founded the Stark Museum of Art. They have a list of Texas accolades a mile long…
Amazing, unique pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor. You never know what you'll find...shopping estate sales, auctions, and charity thrift stores to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.
It measures 13.5” tall x 5” wide and is in lovely estate condition.
