Herend Blue Garland Tureen

Magnificent ‘Blue Garland’ Herend porcelain lidded tureen. Expertly crafted and hand painted with garlands of bright blue flowers and applied pink roses on green vines.

This garland pattern of bright blue cornflowers is said to have been a favorite of Marie Antoinette in the 18th century. Jeno Farkashazy, grandson of the founder o Herend, became familiar with it while studying in France and introduced it as 'Blue Garland' for Herend in 1890.

Perfect for use or decor, it really is the perfect pop of color and charm. 

I acquired it at a posh Central Texas estate - the same as the Romeo and Juliet and the Faust et Marguerite lamps, the carved Napoleon III mirror, and the large European tapestry. It was divine!

It measures 6” tall x 12” wide and is in lovely estate condition.
