Completely FABULOUS is what came to mind the minute I saw this set… then it was, I wonder if I can get that clock down, lol. The opulence of this vintage Italian Neoclassical clock garniture set in beyond belief, a breathtaking three-piece ensemble of bronze, marble, and artistry that captures the heart of 19th-century grandeur. Each element—the central figural mantel clock flanked by twin five-light candelabra—embodies the refinement and theatrical flourish of Europe’s Gilded Age.

Crafted in Italy, this set reflects the enduring influence of the French Empire and Louis XVI revival styles that swept through Europe. The putti and cherubs—symbols of love, art, and music—were favored decorative themes among aristocratic collectors, their playful yet noble presence bringing warmth to the formality of marble and gilt bronze.

Such pieces were frequently commissioned for the salons and drawing rooms of noble families, echoing the lavish interiors of Florence, Rome, and Milan, where artisans combined Italian romanticism with Parisian precision. The hand-chased gilt bronze mounts, beaded clock bezel, and finely veined marble plinths all attest to an atelier of distinction—likely one catering to the grand tourist trade that flourished in post-Risorgimento Italy.✨ 

 Each piece is masterfully crafted:

• Central clock adorned with two finely modeled cherubs playing instruments and holding floral garlands
• Candelabra each feature five scrolled arms rising from marble urns supported by gilt bronze bases with ram’s head and foliate motifs
• Original gilt bronze finish beautifully patinated from age
• Porcelain clock face with Roman numerals, encased in a decorative bezel surrounded by ribbons and acanthus
• Mounted on cream-toned marble bases resting upon intricate bronze feet
• The set did NOT include a key, so I can not say whether or not it’s functional. It’s being offered as a glorious piece of decorative Art.

Every surface tells a story of skill and splendor—bronze sculpted with lyrical precision, marble polished to mirror sheen, and design rooted in mythological symbolism.

Italian garniture sets of this caliber are increasingly rare, as many were separated over time. To find a complete, matched trio—still together more than a century later—is remarkable. I acquired it at a post estate in the Westlake Hills area of Austin, TX.

 The set is substantial in size and weight with the clock measuring 24.5” tall x 13.5” wide x 7.5” deep. The candelabras with the center snuffer measure 27” tall x 10.5” wide x 6” deep. 

 Each is in excellent estate condition with light patina consistent with age. Marble and gilding remain rich and vibrant. Clock mechanism untested; sold as decorative.
