Romantic Italian Porcelain Statues – Rustic Shepherd & Shepherdess at the Fountain (Set of 2)

Elegant White Glazed Figurines, Mid -20th Century Pastoral Scene

Capture the charm of the Italian countryside with this exquisite pair of porcelain statues, masterfully crafted in Italy and finished in a creamy high-gloss white glaze. Depicting a romanticized pastoral scene, the figures represent a young shepherdess fetching water and her beloved drawing from a rustic fountain. Together, they form a harmonious tableau of rural life, grace, and timeless beauty.

The shepherdess, draped in a flowing dress and kerchief, delicately steadies a pitcher beneath a spout, while floral detailing blooms at her feet. Her counterpart—slightly taller—leans casually over a wellhead, holding a handled pail as if pausing in quiet conversation. Both figures rest on intricately molded rocky bases adorned with blossoms, lending a naturalistic yet idealized air to the composition.

Each measures approximately 22.5” tall x 8” wide and are lovely estate condition. 

I acquired them at a posh estate in the Westlake area of Austin… the same as the French altar candelabras and the rare 3.5 foot Italian statues…It was truly a dream to shop.
