Large Cordey Porcelain Statuette on Riser – 15”

This striking Cordey porcelain statuette is a wonderful example of the romantic, whimsical artistry that made Cordey pieces so beloved in the mid-20th century. Standing an impressive 15 inches tall including the decorative riser, the figure depicts an elegantly dressed lady in historic European costume, complete with a wide feathered hat, softly draped gown, and delicate floral accents.

Her graceful posture and finely detailed dress—accented with raised textures, hand-painted details, and touches of gilt—create a sculptural presence that feels both theatrical and charming. The figure holds a small bouquet while layers of lace-like detailing and stylized folds bring movement and character to the piece.

Originally, this example appears to have been mounted as a lamp base at one time, a common adaptation for larger Cordey figures during the mid-century decorating era. Today it stands beautifully on its decorative riser as a substantial display piece, perfect for a mantel, cabinet, or tabletop vignette.

Produced by the Cordey China Company of Trenton, New Jersey (1940s–1950s), these porcelain creations were inspired by romanticized European costume and were celebrated for their whimsical interpretation of historic elegance.

Estate Provenance

She is one of an extensive collection sourced from the same Texas estate, where they were displayed throughout as a charming tableau of aristocratic characters.
