Vintage etching "Irish Setters Hunting" by listed artist Léon Danchin (1887-1938). It’s beautifully hand colored and signed. It’s such a fantastic piece.

Léon Danchin (21 June 1887 – 4 August 1938) was a French artist known for his drawings of animals, mainly sporting dogs. He was also a sculptor. He studied sculpture at L'Ecole des Beaux Art in Paris and was accepted by the Salon des Artists at the age of sixteen.

His interest developed into rural scenes with a focus on dogs.  Danchin's work is widely regarded as some of the finest when it comes to sporting dogs.

His early works sold very well in France, but also in Belgium, the United States and England. Danchin later moved to Bergues in French Flanders, where he could hunt regularly. It was during this period that he drew many of the hunting scenes that made him world renown.

There are documented auction prices exceeding $4000 for his hunting art.

It’s matted in a sage green and framed behind glass. There is some light discoloration but nothing that distracts from its dispalyability.

It measures 19” tall x 15” wide x .25” deep.
