Fantastic pair of 19th century neoclassical Limoges porcelain plates adorned with a delicately hand painted cherub motif. Bearing the Lanternier Mark 4, this plate dates back to circa 1891, a true treasure from the golden age of French porcelain artistry.

Crafted in Limoges, France—a region world-renowned for producing the finest hard-paste porcelain—this piece was made by Lanternier & Cie, one of the most respected porcelain manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Founded by Leonard Lanternier in 1857, the company became known for its elegant forms, ethereal hand-painted scenes, and quality craftsmanship. By the 1880s, Lanternier was producing porcelain not just for the French elite but also for export to discerning collectors around the globe.

Each plate measures 5.5” in diameter and is in excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The charming putto or cherub at the center is a fine example of Victorian sentimentality, often used in Limoges designs meant for boudoir or parlor display.

Whether you’re a seasoned Limoges collector, a lover of antique French porcelain, or looking for the perfect romantic gift, this hard-to-find piece is sure to impress.
