I think I'm in my turkey era… I'm so obsessed with all things turkey. This is a striking homage to one of America’s most iconic wildlife illustrations—this vintage painting captures the majestic Wild Turkey, originally made famous by naturalist John James Audubon. Painted in 1949 by an unknown artist, this work is not an original Audubon but rather a beautifully rendered tribute in the Audubon style, evoking the grandeur and detail of the original Birds of America series.

The turkey’s richly feathered body, set against a naturalistic landscape, is executed with attention to texture, form, and color. Whether you’re a collector of Audubon-inspired pieces, a lover of vintage wildlife art, or simply looking for a bold piece of Americana for your gallery wall, this painting offers timeless appeal.

Unknown artist. Acrylic on canvas. Solid wood frame with green accent.

I acquired it at a lovely Terrell Hills estate in the San Antonio, TX area.

Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor. You never know what you'll find...shopping estate sales, auctions, and vendor’s markets to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.

It measures 19” tall x 16.5” wide.
