Estate art is one of my favorite things! Nestled in the European countryside we catch a glimpse of this charming bastide with two figures, possibly a mother and child, walking along a tree lined cobblestone road.  

This piece tells a story we hear with our imagination…. the artist creates layers of depth and character in acrylic on board that unfold with each gaze. To me, it has an almost fairy tale quality. 

It is signed in the lower right corner, but I can't make out the name. I believe this piece to be from 1950s - 1960s. Possibly older, but I feel comfortable saying that. I'm showing in high and low light. 

It’s professionally framed in a gold stepped frame that adds an understated elegance. 

It was acquired from the grand estate of a LT. Colonel ( the youngest to serve in WW II)  and his beloved philanthropist wife who was from one of the oldest, most revered oil families in Texas. 

They were pillars of the community holding seats on different boards, even having an art center named after them at one of the local universities as well as a center within the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. 
Built in 1950, This Terrell Hills home was a dream… In fact, it was next door to the largest estate in San Antonio.
It was hanging in the living area across from the office/ library and immediately caught my attention…I especially love the lighter colors set against the darker elements in nature.  

It measures 22” tall x 26.25” wide framed.
