A charming and delightfully mischievous pair of solid brass “Butler Monkey” candle holders, each kneeling in service while presenting a tray with cup-form candle holder.

These mid-20th century figural pieces are wonderfully heavy and substantial, cast in solid brass with detailed fur texturing and engraved decorative accents along the garments and trays. The warm patina has developed beautifully over time, giving them that rich, storied glow that only age can create.

One of my favorite design details: their curled tails rest firmly on the ground, creating a tripod base with their feet. It’s not just adorable — it provides extra stability and balance, making them surprisingly sturdy for figural pieces.

“Butler monkeys” became popular in British Colonial and Hollywood Regency interiors during the mid-century era, where exotic motifs and whimsical attendants added personality to otherwise traditional spaces. They’re equal parts conversation piece and functional décor.
