XLARGE French Porcelain Sevres Style Tray with Gilded Tole Trim, Pastoral Courting Scene in the style of Boucher
XLARGE French Porcelain Sevres Style Tray with Gilded Tole Trim, Pastoral Courting Scene in the style of Boucher
This is literally one of the most AMAZING things I've ever seen… it was one of the reasons I went to this estate sale but it was 10 times more impressive in person… not only because of the size but the colors, the painting, the gilded scroll tole work… I've never seen anything like it in person. Ever.
The pastoral scene, complete with sheep and goats, is in the classic style of Boucher…painted on French porcelain, a Sevres blank I believe, as it was painted in the 19th century with all the opulence of the Napoleon III period.
This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime finds!
I acquired it at a posh Terrell Hills estate in the San Antonio area of a well-known financier…. The same as the carved roaring lion library steps, the XLarge silver plate wall mount planter, the Reed and Barton scalloped edge bowl, and the Silver Plate Roll Top Servers.
It measures 22.5” long x 15.5” deep x 2.5” at from the table and is in incredible condition.
Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor. You never know what you'll find.
Comps on this piece- though there aren't many this size- are $5000 to???
