The Chess Game by Francesco Beda, Lithograph on Board, Gilded Wood Frame
The Chess Game by Francesco Beda, Lithograph on Board, Gilded Wood Frame
The Chess Game by Italian Artist, Francesco Beda (1840-1900). This lithograph on board is a stunning piece to add to or start a vintage art collection. I LOVE everything we’re seeing here… the period dress and the Rococo decor especially that large chandelier, are all DIVINE.
The wood frame is gilded to perfection and accentuates the opulence of the time.
The original was painted in 1880 and currently, it's whereabouts are unknown.
I acquired them from a lovely Texas estate… the same as the French Victorian vases and the amazing reverse silhouettes. It was one of the main reasons I chose this sale as the first of the day.
Pieces like this are why I love sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor. You never know what you'll find.
It measures 40.5” wide x 27.5” tall x 1.5” deep and is in lovely estate condition.
