Vintage Murano Tutti Frutti Bizantino Bowl, Made in Italy, Attributed to Dino Martens

It’s been said, ‘that in the world of 20th Murano glass, Dino Martens' (1894-1970) legacy is that of an inventiveness and excess’…as you look at this sculptural multi-colored bowl you can see why. His Murano pieces are some of the most sought after and collected.

Titled Tutti Frutti, this whimsically eclectic piece by AVEM was hand crafted in Italy c. 1950s-1960s in the Zanfirico and Latticinio techniques. It has a tutti-frutti candy effect surrounded by a pop of blue on an opaque white base.

This is such a special piece…when made, it was designed to be used either as a bowl or an ashtray (I don’t see any indications that it was ever used as an ashtray)

I acquired it from a posh Texas estate where the family loved this bowl when finding it in Italy and displayed it in a place of pride.
