John French (1936-2022) Painting, Snowy West Texas Landscape, Texas Art, Galleried and Listed Artist
This Texas landscape by galleried and listed artist, John French (1936-2022) is so unbelievably beautiful.
You can practically feel the chill of the frigid air, the hear the crackling of the branches under the snow, and imagine the crispness of the freezing creek. The colors add a layer of complexity to this wonderland that is Texas in our brief winter.
John French is known worldwide for his landscape paintings. Born in Waco, Texas, he spent most of his childhood in West Texas and New Mexico where his love for the landscape and Western lifestyle including rugged cowboys and Navajo Indians was formed.
As a child, he began drawing with colored chalk and eventually painting in water colors, oils and acrylic to become a well known completely self taught artist.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force and years working as an auto mechanic and painting in his spare time, he ventured out to pursue art full-time.
John's work is known throughout the United States and most of Europe and Asia.
He has paintings on permanent display in the International Bank of Japan in Tokyo and the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco.
He illustrated the book Women of Texas and he painted the picture from which the poster and bookmark for the National Library Week were made.
One of his paintings is on the cover of the Texas Rangers Museum Catalog book.
He also created the commemorative painting of the original meeting house of the Texas Farmers Union hanging in the National Office.
One of his bluebonnet paintings was presented to the First Lady Rosalynn Carter on one of her official visits to Texas and he was one of only thirty-five western artists chosen nationwide to participate at the prestigious Pendleton Round-up Art Show in Oregon.
I acquired this glorious piece from the estate of life lifelong Texas art collector.
