Staffordshire Style Shepherd with Herd Spill Vase
Staffordshire Style Shepherd with Herd Spill Vase
Large vintage Staffordshire style Spill vase with a shepherd and his herd of sheep in front of a large central hollow tree. The branches hold several oversized perched birds and the head of a large yellow snake pokes through with the body wrapping around it. The base is made to look brick fence with a picket gate.
The shepherd stands with a staff in his left hand and a bouquet of flowers in his right. He’s surrounded by an oversized ram and sheep, their heads turned inquisitively towards him as does his loyal sheepdog. Three lambs- two spaghetti style- lounge in the grass.
Sourcing the South is my favorite thing to do… finding pieces that have been treasured for years and hopefully will be treasured for years to come. Many are steeped in history and tradition and some are just pretty but all are thoughtfully curated by me so that I can bring you the very best of what I find💙
It’s substantial in size and weight measuring 8” tall x 8” wide x 8” deep and weighs over 5 lbs and is in lovely estate condition.
