This vintage ceramic fish-form vessel features a striking black ground covered in colorful peonies, foliage, and delicate botanical details. From its softly blushed face and sculpted fins to the smaller fish forming the lid’s handle, every angle offers another wonderfully whimsical detail.

The removable lid has an old repair, finished with a decorative gold-toned, kintsugi-inspired treatment. The repair remains visible and is part of the vessel’s history, so please review all photographs carefully. Although it could certainly hold small treasures, I especially love it displayed as a sculptural chinoiserie accent on a coffee table, bookshelf, bar, or collected tabletop.
