Vintage Fruit Still Life Painting with Blue and Green Vases, Framed
Vintage Fruit Still Life Painting with Blue and Green Vases, Framed
I love a good still life painting and this one is FANTASTIC! Vibrant colored vases in blue and green surrounded by bundles of grapes, bananas, pomegranates, oranges and lemons. A white table cloth with teal blue swashes and a yellow plate set the backdrop for this classic genre. Its framed in a lovely detailed gold solid wood frame with a hanging wire.
The term "still life" comes from the Dutch word stilleven and refers to art such as sketches and paintings of inanimate objects most often fruit and flowers. Still life art has roots back to ancient Egypti and Rome, but gained great popularity in the 17th century Netherlands.
It’s acrylic on canvas board with a stamp on the back that says The Little Gallery 622 Rue Royale N.O. La and the name Mrs. Russell M Baker. The address is located in the French Quarter and is now M.S. Rau Fine Art and Antiques. There is a signature in the lower right corner, but isn’t ledgible.
It measures 27.5” tall x 33.5” wide x 1.5” deep.
