The story of Rothschild Bird (RO):
Legend has it that the baroness Rothschild lost her Pearl necklace one day in the garden of her Vienna estate. It was later found by the gardener who saw two lovely little birds playing with it in a tree. This charming tale became the inspiration for the beloved pattern created by Herend.
In the 1850s, The Rothschild family who adored the bird-patterned ordered the entire collection prompting Herend to officially name the pattern in their honor in 1861.
Fun fact: Princess Diana chose Rothschild Bird for her wedding reception.
