 A charming and increasingly scarce writing desk accessory, this Royal Danube porcelain double inkwell set is decorated in the beloved cobalt blue floral pattern inspired by historic European porcelain traditions. The elegant scalloped stand holds two lidded ink wells and is accompanied by its original porcelain-handled letter opener, the steel blade stamped “Sheffield England,” referencing the famed English center of fine steelmaking.

 Royal Danube porcelain was produced in Hungary during the early to mid-20th century and widely exported throughout Europe and the United States. Pieces such as this were designed for writing desks during the fountain pen era—when letters were composed slowly, thoughtfully, and beautifully.

 This particular set was sourced at Round Top, where treasures from across the world regularly find their way to Texas estates and antique collections. The blue-and-white palette makes it a natural companion to chinoiserie décor, antique books, and traditional library styling.
